We’re home!

September 14th, 2008

We are home safe and sound and Beck & Drew have had a chance to meet and hang out with their brother. They love him and he loves them – they hit it off from the very beginning, what an answer to prayer…. here’s a picture of them just a little while after they met at the airport.

More of the story line will be coming very soon (maybe in an hour or two) – but we just wanted to let everyone know that we got home safe and sound and are doing great.  Thanks for all the great comments!

Episode 12 – The foster home

September 11th, 2008

As we mentioned in Episode 11, there were no cameras allowed at the foster home when we went to pick up Dagim (by the way, we are changing his name to Deacon and Dagim will be one of his middle names – so I’ll probably start referring to him as Deacon)… So, since there were no cameras, here is a little recap of how it went…

Episode 11 – He’s here!

September 8th, 2008

Well, there is so much to share but so little computer time or bandwidth… so, here is just a little taste of us picking up our son today…

Going to get Dagim

September 8th, 2008

We are waiting in the lobby for our driver… getting ready to go get Dagim….

Please pray that he bonds with us relatively easily and soon…

Thanks again for all your prayers and support…

We love you all…

We are here!

September 7th, 2008

Well, we made it to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  We arrived safe and sound and are at our great hotel.  The hotel is great all except for one thing – it was advertised with in-room, wireless internet access… but it ends up being a couple of PCs down in the lobby with limited access to the internet… so…. that’s where i am, typing at the lobby computer at 10:30pm local time…

Anyway…. Praise God we are here and we will be picked up at 10am local time tomorrow morning to go get Dagim!

More later….

We’re on our way!

September 6th, 2008

We have made our first leg of the trip and we are in Washington DC.  We met a really nice woman from Ethiopia that works at a restaurant here and she was helping us with our Amharic (Ethiopian) pronunciations.  We had to battle tropical storm hannah a bit on our landing, but it’s clear skies here for our next leg – from here to rome… and then to addis…

Sandi discovered at LAX that there is something even more boring than fishing… it’s watching fishing on tv…. 🙂

More soon…
